Let's. Get. Dangerous.

I saw Megamind recently, and I loved it. ♥ I've been practicing drawing the characters for the last few days, so expect a bunch of drawings at some point.

But until then, I'm off to the beach to hang with my family till Saturday. I don't have much access to the internet while I'm there, so I'll be pretty quiet until I get back home.

The problem with getting into the big fandoms (Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Star Trek), is that - holy crap, thassa lotta fic! :O

So when I stray back to the smaller fandoms, newer or less well-known, it always makes me sad that those fandoms don't have the same amount of fic as the bigger ones.

Granted, it's waaaaaay easier to find quality fic in those smaller fandoms, but it still makes me sad that there are usually so few of them. :<


TBPH, I love searching for good fic in big fandoms. It's like a treasure hunt, knowing how to find those gems through so much crap. In fact, nowadays I manage to find the good ones without even needing to go through all the poor-quality ones. :)

So, an update on me fandom-wise.

I've been going through Star Trek for the first time, ever since I rewatched the '09 movie on the way back from Georgia in July and then I started reading '09 fanfic. I've since been watching The Original Series on and off for the past few months (reading along with Brittany Diamond's amazing analyzation of the Kirk/Spock pairing through the TOS series), and though I've only watched the movies up to half-way through the Final Frontier and the TOS series up to the third season, I decided to start watching The Next Generation. Mostly because my mom loves Data, and she likes TNG the best.

I've started to watch Encounter at Fairpoint, which I believe is the actual first episode of TNG.

I've gone through the episode finding it kinda boring, even though I really like Data so far and I'll admit Riker is kinda cute, but there was one point where I freaked out.

But, yeah. Anyway, I started college, which is so much better than high school it's almost ridiculous. I've been taking Chemistry 100, English 101, College Algebra, and Digital Imaging. Chem is by far my favorite class cause it's the only class I have on Mondays and Wednesdays and the other three are all bunched together on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I actually snuck out of my house this morning* in order to catch the 10:00. I watched it in 3D, because I wanted to see if it was better or worse.

I don't like 3D. It's stupid, and it makes no sense. The glasses make everything dark, and they're annoying to wear. The 3D just distracts from the movie (not a lot, but enough), and there's no real point to it at all. I liked watching it more in 2D. All watching 3D did was remind me how much I don't like it.

But the movie was still awesome. I managed to not cry this time! Though, I was still very close at the end. The only reason I didn't was because there were people WHO WERE LAUGHING WTF YOU JERKS.

Buzz/Jessie. Holy crap, they're SO CUTE AUGH. No matter what, Buzz is always besotted with Jessie ("Temptress," "bewitching good looks," "My desert flower!" the dances) and it makes me want to WRITE FIC. ♥ Not just any old Toy Story fic either, but Buzz Lightyear of Star Command fic! I want to write where Team Lightyear goes to a planet where it's mostly desert and Old West and they meet Woody and Bullseye and (maybe) Prospector and Buzz sees Jessie and FALLS HEAD OVER HEELS and she thinks he's adorable (which he is). I think it'd be cool if Prospector was the villain, but it'd be even better if he teamed up with Zurg (BECAUSE ZURG IS AWESOME. I love Zurg. HE MADE A CAMEO IN THREE IT WAS AMAZING.) and he told Zurg about how Buzz was crushing on Jessie something fierce and Zurg kidnaps Jessie and has NO IDEA WHAT HE'S GETTING HIMSELF INTO because Jessie is so not a damsel in distress. She'd be so completely unintimidated (at least after she got her bearings. For someone not used to space stuff, even if she's aware of it, she'd probably be completely freaked out about Zurg's appearance. I know I would (if I wasn't in love with him). But she'd so keep a brave face the whole time.) Zurg wouldn't know what to do with her.

Where was I?

Oh, right.

Anyway, I really would like to write this but I probably won't. (If I keep reading TS Buzz/Jessie fic, tho, it'll probably keep building up until I need to write it before I explode.)

So, yeah, I really want to post that fic I wrote about Bo onto FFn, but I'm wary of doing so. I've never actually posted anything there, and it makes me nervous thinking about it. Especially considering I got one comment that was only a sob, it makes me even more so.

I should figure out a better way to end it, tho. It seems like it cuts off too much.

Ah, well.


(*The reason why I snuck out and didn't tell my mom that I was going to the theatre is because we're going to see it when we get to Georgia. We're visiting family for the next few weeks (road trip this Thursday!) and we're probably going to see it with my cousins. I feel just the slightest bit embarrassed that I went and watched it again today, even though I so don't regret going.)

I am never having children.

I just now had to essentially "baby-sit" for seven minutes, and the kid had an absolute fit that he wasn't allowed to go to his dad.

His dad and my dad were putting a little doohicky near the front door so the ravens would stop nesting there, and therefore had to use a crazy-tall ladder. For obvious reasons, the little monster tyke had to stay away for as long as his dad was on the ladder.

I've never had to pick up a screaming child before. I hope I never have to again, but I doubt that I won't encounter one at another point in my life.

I am going to avoid it though, hence my desire to never have children.

I'll be the crazy aunt that spoils her nieces and nephews endlessly, but thankfully won't have to deal with the terrors on a constant round-the-clock basis. :D

I have just finished reading a really friggin' depressing piece of fanfiction and I need something ridiculously cracky and/or happy to balance it out.

This incident, of course, only prompted me to actually back up my files onto my hard drive. ::terribly lazy, but now terribly terrified::

Went to get my books for school, today. (Only three! Woo!) Popped into the band room to see how they've been doing and listened to an official recording of a song they're gonna be playing. Then I listened to them play the song.

I have never been so relieved and so devastated at the same time in my life. Relieved that I got out of band when I did, and devastated because of what the director said when they finally finished. "You guys may not believe me, but that was a 100% better than before!"

::sob:: They suck. They suck so bad.

I'm baaaaaaack~! I had losta fun in good ole San Fran, though I dunno if I'm actually gonna do a picspam.

Before I can do anything at all, however, I need to purge my brain of all the drawing ideas that have backed up over the weekend.

I love my brain, but even when I'm on vacation it doesn't give me a break! I've got three ideas, all Darkwing Duck. One's a Liquidator/Bushroot piece that I'm going to draw to "The Best is Yet to Come" by Frank Sinatra because IT IS SUCH A LICKY/BUSHY SONG HEEEEEE! ::cough:: The other is a kind of speculative poster thing for erica_x's "Playing With Nightmares"- it's been stuck in my head, like, all day. And the last is prolly gonna end up as a crack fic, one way or another- it's of Bushroot having an affair with a bee.

Like I said, I LOVE MY BRAIN. ♥
