 Title: Trust

The nervousness came back just as quickly as it had fled. The moment Danny landed on the front steps and changed human, he was rethinking his decision to come back. He stood on the steps for a full three minutes before he heard a small commotion going on right behind the door. He instinctively turned invisible, before he forced himself to turn visible and knock on the door. The commotion inside paused, and the door opened.

Danny stared at his mother and she stared back, before he said, “Hi, Mom.”

Maddie’s face lit up and she lunged for him, kissing his face several times. “Danny! Oh, sweetie! You came back!” She pulled back and brushed back his mussed hair. “Oh Danny, I thought you’d never forgive us.” She pulled him in for another hug. “I’m so sorry.”

Danny wrapped his arms around her. “Of course I’d forgive you. But will you forgive me? I’m sorry I yelled at you guys.”

Maddie pulled back again and wiped at the lipstick on his face, “Don’t worry Danny. I’m just glad you came home before you missed us!” She looked at him sternly. “I want to know why you didn’t tell us about your powers though…” She smiled at him again and pulled him into the house. “But I suppose that can wait. You had us all worried, you know!”

Danny blinked. She meant more than just her and Dad… His eyes widened when they entered the room. “Sam? Tucker?”

Tucker grinned and slapped him on the back. “Hey, man! We came by to see you only to find out you weren’t here. Perfect timing, wasn’t it?” He finished sarcastically. Danny chuckled.

Sam hit him on the back of the head. “Don’t you ever do that again, Danny! You had everyone really worried!” Danny smiled lightly and rubbed at the spot on his head.

“Sorry. I just needed to clear my head.” But I think that slap cleared it just fine.

“DANNY!” Jack yelled, barreling to where he was. Danny jumped, before Jack grabbed him in a bear hug. “I’m so sorry, son! You should have told us that our invention would have been bad for you!”

Danny wriggled out of his dad’s grasp before he said, “I, uh-“

“Don’t worry about telling us the details, dear.” Danny looked at his mom. “Sam and Tucker told us a lot about what you can do.” Danny glanced at his friends, wondering if he should be mad or glad at them for telling his parents. “Now,” Maddie said, leading him toward a chair, “where did you go? It was only about an hour ago that we turned on the Fenton Infuriator.”

Danny fiercely tried to prevent a blush from forming on his face as he sat down. He doubted it worked, as Sam looked a little suspicious, but he still said, “I went for a walk in the forest to clear my head.” Yeah, mentioning whom you found there, when you chased him, and when he gave you a blowjob reeeeeaally would not be a good idea.

“Well,” said Maddie, “at least you’re all right. And at least you came back before we went out looking for you. You did almost miss us.”

Danny smiled to himself. They were gonna come looking for me… He felt like slapping himself for doubting his parents and friends. Dan was right.

Jack interrupted his thoughts. “Hey, Danny! Tell us all the cool powers you have! Sam and Tucker were kinda vague when they told us.”

Danny spent the next two hours telling his parents tales about everything he did and had done. The Lunch Lady, the Box Ghost, Walker, Pariah Dark, the Fright Knight, Skulker.  If Sam and Tucker noticed he had neglected to mention Vlad and Dan, they didn’t mention it.

When he was done it was eight o’ clock, so the Fenton’s invited Sam and Tucker to stay for dinner. They themselves pitched in some more info about Danny. Conversation around the table became long, so by the time dinner was done it was time for them to head on home. It was almost ten o’ clock.

Sam paused at the door. “Um, Mr. and Mrs. Fenton? Could we borrow Danny for a moment? I would like to speak with him.”

“Sure Sam!” said Jack. “Just make sure he’s in time for his curfew.”

“But, Mr. Fenton!” Tucker piped up. “What if Danny’s delayed by a ghost? Then he’d be after curfew.” Tucker grinned slyly at his friend and winked.

Danny grinned back and said, “Yeah, Dad. It can take me a while to catch a ghost. I would probably be a little late if one popped up.” And, with his luck, one probably would.

Jack frowned in thought. “Hmm. You are right…”

“Well then,” said Maddie, her voice coming from the kitchen, “you may be back later than your normal curfew, young man. But at least be home before midnight!”

Danny barely suppressed a whoop. “Alright, Mom. See you later!” The trio headed outside. The started in the direction of Sam’s house, as hers was closer. “So, what did you want to talk to me about, Sam?” Danny caught Sam glancing at Tucker, biting at her thumb. Tucker gave her a look of encouragement. “Sam…?”

“Well, Danny…” Sam began. “I had come to tell you earlier, but you had left already…”

She was stalling. Danny could tell. “Sam, just say it already! Whatever it is, I won’t hate you for it or anything!”

Sam gulped and she opened her mouth, but Tucker beat her to it. “Sam is dating someone.” She glared at him. “What? It didn’t look like you were gonna say it any time soon.”

Danny blinked. “You are? Who? Since when?”

“A couple of weeks ago,” said Sam. “His name’s Keith. He’s a goth. I didn’t really know how I was going to tell you, so I put it off. Until today of course. I decided to stop keeping you in the dark.”

They were halfway to her house already. “When did you find out you wanted to date him?” Danny asked, genuinely curious.

Sam glanced at Tucker, and Tucker looked back at her. “Several weeks ago…. You know Danny, you’re taking this rather well.” Sam said.

Danny grinned, then turned around, now walking backwards.  “Come on, Sam. I’m not that shallow anymore to be jealous that you’ve gotten together with someone else. You know very well I’m gonna be happy that you’re happy. But, just to warn you, he hurts you, and Danny Phantom’s gonna be haunting him for a long time.” Sam punched at his arm, and Danny laughed, dodging her. He nearly tripped, and Sam and Tucker laughed along with him. When they finally got their breath back, they were in front of Sam’s house. “’Night, Sam!”

“’Night, guys.” Sam started to walk up the steps, before she paused. She ran back down and hugged Danny. “Thanks for understanding, Danny.” She said.

Danny grinned at her. “You’re welcome.”

Sam went into her house, and Danny and Tucker walked toward the latter’s own home. After a few minutes, they both said, at nearly the exact same time, “Do you think we’re invited to the wedding?” After a good laugh at that, Danny said, “I don’t know if Sam is ready for that just yet.”

Tucker smirked at him. “I didn’t think so either. I’m really worried it’ll be another-.”

Danny interrupted him. “Gregor? Yeah, I thought about that. But, really, Sam can take care of herself. If it does end up being another Gregor, or even someone worse, she’ll be upset maybe, but then we can be there to help her out. It’ll all be fine- if that does happen. For all we know so far, we can’t automatically assume this new guy’s gonna hurt Sam. I’ve done that too many times already.”

“Yeah…” Tucker said. “But, you still can’t help but worry…” Danny nodded in agreement.

They walked and remained silent for several more minutes. After they passed the halfway mark to Tucker’s house from Sam’s (a green fire hydrant, the result of when the Fenton’s had once passed by in the Fenton RV. It was forever stained, but the fire department hadn’t really minded, as bright neon-green was just as easy to recognize as any red) Tucker broke the silence. “Hey, man?” he said.

“Yeah?” Danny asked, looking sideways at him.

“What did you really do when you went out? ‘Cause I know you, and you didn’t tell the whole truth when you told your parents where you’d been.”

Danny looked to the sidewalk, contemplating what he should tell him. “I…”

“You didn’t catch any ghosts, ‘cause you didn’t have a thermos when you came back. So, tell me honestly, what did you do?”

Danny sighed through his nose. “I met… him.”

Tucker didn’t understand. “Him? What do you mea-“ His eyes widened. “Oh.” He looked at Danny with concern. “Did he do anything to you?”

Danny just knew he had blushed a bright red. “Um…” He looked away. “He was… different than we remember. He was…” he looked up to the starry sky, “afraid of me. I didn’t know why.” I don’t know why.

Tucker raised an eyebrow at the blush, but his eyes widened at what Danny had said. “Afraid of you? How could it have been him afraid of you?”

“That’s what I thought. But I don’t think he’s here to cause trouble.” Danny looked back at Tucker. “He said he wanted to help people.”

“But how do you know? Just because he said it, doesn’t make it true.”

“I know. But… I think he really meant it.”

Tucker sighed; they were at his house now. “If you’re sure, man.” He shook his head. “I trust you, but… you know better than us if really was planning something.” He smiled. “I trust you. G’night!” He went into his house.

“’Night.” Danny stared at the door for a moment, before he went ghost and headed home. I trust you, Dan. I don’t even think I should, but I do. Was one blowjob really worth risking the destruction of Amity Park? No.

But finding out what made Dan like this, was.
